Al Ittifaq FC opened their 2026-27 UAE First Division League campaign with a battling away performance, narrowly going down 1-0 to Al Bataeh after a penalty in the dying minutes decided the contest.
The lads were excellent throughout, matching a strong Al Bataeh side step for step and frustrating them for almost the entire match. The defense stood tall, the midfield controlled key moments, and Al Ittifaq looked well on course to secure a well-earned point on the road. It was only a penalty award deep into stoppage time that separated the two sides, with Al Bataeh converting from the spot to snatch the win.
There’s a lot to build on here. This was a disciplined, well-organised display against a tough opponent, and the squad showed exactly the kind of resilience and shape that will serve them well as the season goes on. A composed away performance like this is a strong marker for where the team is heading.
